Dear Friends, Are you sitting comfortably? Many of you could say we can sit more comfortably now, not just because of the new chairs but because prayers are beginning to be answered! Let us thank God for the moving of His Spirit in our church and the villages. However, let us ensure we guard against the dangers of sitting back satisfied all is going well. Part of being a Christian is that we are on a mission, a mission that is never completed. Every church needs to maintain and even strengthen their commitment to God. For Histon Salvation Army Church, part of that commitment is the Half Days of prayer. These are very special times set aside as part of our commitment to God and our church and we each have a responsibility to pray for our church. On the Prayer Days, it is an opportunity to commit as individuals to pray for the continual growth of our church. It is also a time to seek God’s guidance as you continue on the mission that He has placed on you. After Jesus had ascended to Heaven, the disciples came together to pray, they kept praying and they saw amazing things happen. If you read about the very large churches today, you also read of their strong commitment to prayer. Jim Cymbala is the Pastor of Brooklyn Tabernacle Church, USA, once a run-down church with a dwindling congregation but one that made a strong commitment to prayer and ever since many new Christians have been added to that church. Jim Cymbala writes ‘If we call upon the Lord, He has promised in His Word to answer, to bring the unsaved to Himself, to pour out His Spirit among us. If we don’t call upon the Lord, he has promised nothing – nothing at all.’ What has God in store? Let us pray and find out! May God bless you Louise Wood Captain
