Dear Friends, How are you doing? That’s a question we often ask each other when we meet a family member or friend. We ask it as we are genuinely interested in how the person is doing because we care about them. It also means a great deal to us when someone asks us and they are genuinely interested because it shows that they care for us. I am sure you have all met someone who has asked you how you are and before you have even given a response they have moved on to speaking to someone else! It is not very polite and it certainly gives the impression that they are not very concerned about you. I wonder how often we ask each other how we are doing when it comes to our faith in God? Do we ask each other how our relationship with God is going, how our prayer life is or what we have been reading in the Bible lately? Are we genuinely interested in other people’s spiritual well being? I am sure that we all care but is it that sometimes that we’re afraid to ask the these kinds of questions because of how the other person might respond. Perhaps we’re afraid people might ask us the same questions! I hope it means a lot though when people do ask because our faith in God matters so much. Towards the end of last year, we had a similar situation as a church when we held the Health Clinic. We had to asked ourselves how we were doing as a church and answer some challenging questions at times to ensure we were on the right track for the growth of the church. Above all, I thank God that He is genuinely interested in how we are doing each and every day of our lives, however young or old we are. As an old Salvation Army chorus states, “I’ll trust my Father in Heaven for I know that He cares for me.” It means a lot to have a God like that who loves you, doesn’t it? I certainly hope it does!
