                 Captain’s Log
Dear Friends,

Last evening I was able to enjoy the delight of Leeds United winning their match against Preston 2-1 which was made memorable as David Healy scoring the winning goal in the final minutes.  It was so inspiring to see the determination of the manager and team to win the match.  This was reflected in the celebrations of the team afterwards as the victory took Leeds off the bottom of the Championship table giving all Leeds fans hope that we will escape from relegation!

This was a marked contrast to a few weeks ago when the previous Leeds captain had handed in a transfer request saying it had been a mistake to join Leeds.

The events of Easter are very much a story of commitment, dedication to the cause, victory and hope.  As we follow Jesus over the events of Easter, we see the difficulty and anguish Jesus went through the night of His arrest as He contemplated the fate that awaited Him.  Jesus sweated  like drops of blood in perspiration but His commitment to the cause was such that He said, “Not my will but Yours (Father) be done.” (Luke 22:42 NIV)  Jesus’ knew what God the Father’s plan was and stayed true to it.

Such was the dedication of Jesus that He went through the suffering of death by crucifixion on Good Friday because He knew the victory that was to come.  Jesus had the power to easily walk away from the suffering of the Cross but He remained true to the cause because He knew that His death on the Cross would pay the price for all of man’s sins.

Yet the great victory awaited for we celebrate Easter Sunday because Jesus rose alive from the grave, triumphing over death itself and thereby giving us the very real hope and promise that all who accept Jesus as Lord will have the gift of eternal life.

Easter is our opportunity to thank Jesus for what He has done for us and to ensure that Christ is the captain of our lives as we follow Him.  Jesus our Lord and Saviour full of dedication determination, hope and certain Victory!

May God bless you

Paul Wood

Captain
