Dear Friends,

Why are you a Christian?  What difference does being a Christian make to your everyday life?  Are these questions that you find easy to answer or do you need to give some thought to your response.  Yet these are the types of questions people might ask of us when they find out that we are a Christian.  The Bible tells us It’s important to think about our answers when we read in 1 Peter 3:15,. “Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.”  It could very well be that our answers play a significant part in someone else deciding to become a Christian.

What are my answers?  Why am I a Christian?  I had always believed in God but over a number of years I came to realize that God loved me, Jesus is the Son of God, and that if I accepted Jesus as my Saviour I have found that God forgives me for my past wrongs and that God has a plan and purpose for my life far better than anything I could have imagined for myself and gives me hope for the future.

What difference does being a follower of Jesus make to my everyday life?  The truth is it makes all the difference in the world.  I seek to act and behave in the way the Bible guides us is the way for a follower of Jesus to live.  This includes loving our neighbour as ourselves, to help those in need, to spend time with God each day reading my Bible to pray and to give 10% of my income back to God.  I take comfort and reassurance that God is always with me and hears my prayers.  I seek to be obedient to the plan and purpose God has for my life which in my case involves in large part being the best husband, father and officer that I can be. These are just a few examples and I do wish to stress that I am not perfect in these areas, as is the same for any Christian, but this is the way that I seek to live my life as a follower of Jesus.

So what are your answers?  Give it some thought, maybe write your
answers down on a piece of paper and you might be surprised at all the responses that you come up with.  One thing for sure is that you will be prepared when someone asks you why you are a Christian and your
answers may end up making all the difference in the world to them.

May God bless you.
