Each year The Salvation Army in the Anglia Division holds a Senior Celebration at Felixstowe and this year the theme was ‘Young at Heart’. The following is a report of the day by Connect Fellowship Leader, Betty Burrows. The morning of May 15th 2007 wasn’t a day to contemplate going to the seaside! For instead of sun hats and sandals the weather was more suitable for wellie boots and umbrellas, yet the members and friends of the Connect Fellowship who attended the Senior Celebration at Felixstowe have all expressed how much they enjoyed the day. We arrived at the Spa Pavilion with plenty of time to enjoy a coffee and then lunch before the entertainment began. Major Fred Thompson was the special guest and made us all smile with his humour. We enjoyed the beautiful singing of Major Lynn Hawkins. Mr Roy Williams, a member of the Anglia Fellowship Band not only showed us skill on the accordion but also his talent as a comedian. The drama of Keith Turton proved to many to be inspirational and thought provoking. Two members of the Connect Fellowship received a gift for being of “a certain age” and although it was sad to see a few empty seats it was wonderful to see so many “young at heart” seniors celebrating the love of God together.
