Dear Friends,

Just under 2,000 years ago there was a conversation held between a group of people in which a man spoke two life changing sentences. Little did some of the people talking realize just what amazing words would be said. The problem that would follow was not in what was said but in following these words that one man spoke. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but if only they and subsequent generations had taken these words to heart what a wonderful world we would live in.

The conversation I am writing about took place between some religious leaders of the time and this man. The leaders asked the man what was the most important law to follow to which He replied, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind AND the second is like it: Love your neighbour as yourself.” The man who spoke those words was Jesus Christ. (see Matthew 22:34-39)

If only we would apply Jesus’ words to our lives what might the world be like today? No need to locking up your doors or windows before going out as others would respect your property. No need to be fear walking alone at night. No lives taken through acts of terrorism as others would love your life as they do themselves. No poverty for everyone would be given a fair chance in life and not exploited in any way. No immigration problems as people would not need to leave a place in fear of persecution. All of this could be possible if others would love your life as they love themselves.

Those are just some examples if only people would take to hearts the words of Jesus spoken in a conversation almost 2,000 years ago. The world would be an incredible place if people loved God and loved each other just as Jesus said.
