Captain’s Log March 2006 PDF Print E-mail

Dear Friends,

As springtime approaches I wonder what many of you are longing for? Is it the warmer weather, the lighter evenings or even the spring time flowers? Perhaps it is for someone you love and care for to come into a relationship with God? For many Christians this is a strong desire in their hearts. Yet, it can also be something that is discouraging especially when we have prayed and prayed to God and yet that person still seems so far from God.

There is a new Christian magazine ‘Inspire’ that has recently been produced and made available to churches to give away free. In the first issue is an article entitled ‘God’s Perfect Timing’. The article begins by talking about a wife who had prayed for her husband to come to know God. It was 22 years before her prayer was answered but it was all in God’s perfect timing.

I know that there are many people in our church who are praying for loved ones and friends to come to know Christ, some of those names are even displayed on the cross in our prayer room. The story in ‘Inspire’ of a wife praying for 22 years gives us hope, that God is working in the lives of the people that we are praying for. Therefore, let us be encouraged and not discouraged and continue to pray and ask God to work within His time scale – His perfect timing.

May these words from Ephesians also encourage you in your prayers for loved ones when we read, “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen” (Ephesians 3: 20-21 NKJV)

May God bless you
