Dear Friends, As we approach Holy Week, we are reminded of the determination and willingness of Jesus’ to do the Father’s will when Jesus said, “Father, if You are willing, take this cup from me; yet not My will but Yours be done.” (Luke 22:42). It wasn’t that Jesus did not have a sense of reluctance but what Jesus knew was that the will of the Father was the right way. In our own lives as we follow the Lord, we face challenges in which we are faced with a difficult choice of doing the Father’s will. The choice is difficult because sometimes doing what God is leading us to do will mean a struggle when the path of least resistance would seem far more appealing. We may even have doubts about whether God knows what He is doing because to do what He asks seems very great task to undertake. If Jesus had not obeyed the Father’s will, there would be no Cross, there would be no act of forgiveness and reconciliation as we have the joy of knowing it today. In a similar way, it could just well be that the Kingdom of God on this earth will be much stronger when we obey the Father’s will even when that means that the going will be tough. As the words of Stanley Ditmer state, ‘I’m in His hands... Whatever the future holds I’m in His hands. The days I cannot see have all been planned for me; His way is best you see; I’m in His hands.” As we approach Easter, may we all praise God that a new life has been made possible through the obedience of Jesus to do the Father’s will. The Cross, the Resurrection – the will of God! May it spur us on in our own walks with God to do the Father’s will for our lives. May God bless you. Paul & Louise Wood Captains
