Captain’s Log December 2005 PDF Print E-mail
Dear Friends,

The Christmas season is now upon us and one reason I enjoy Christmas is the way families and friends get together and we all try to be of good will to each other!

Christians celebrate Christmas because it is about God getting together with us and offering His love and good will to us through the birth of Jesus Christ. The angel said to the shepherds that this is “good news of great joy that will be for all the people.” (Luke 2:10). I wonder how you feel about that? Is God the most important Person in your life or is He someone you think about occasionally? Do you wish God would do more in your life and in this world? Do you even blame God for some of the bad things that have happened in your life and this world? If you do, then let me just say that God is not about that, but what He does do is give us the strength we need to keep going.

If you’re reading this and you are not a Christian, then I urge you to give God a chance in your life, not just at Christmas but also throughout the year. Whilst life will not always be plain sailing I hope that you will find that love, peace, strength and security that only God can offer us. Give God a chance and you will find that He has a plan and purpose for your life. Give God a chance and you could find that God will use you to bring joy and goodwill to others and to yourself – not just at Christmas but the whole year round!

Finally, I would just like to conclude by thanking all the members of our church and volunteer family who help out in so many ways at our church and charity shop for The Salvation Army in Histon. We are very grateful for all that you do throughout the year to help The Salvation Army church in its service to this wonderful community we live in.

Louise and I wish you all a Happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year.
May God bless you.
